THAMES & NEWCASTLE WELCOMES NEW APPRENTICES.

T&N Apprentices

Thames & Newcastle has welcomed two new apprentices to its growing team.

Alex Mowatt joins as an apprentice quantity surveyor, supporting the team in delivering high-end residential projects. The role will enable him to gain a quantity surveying degree from Anglia Ruskin University and work towards obtaining CIOB membership. Outside the classroom, training and mentoring will be provided by Thames and Newcastle’s experienced chartered construction professionals.

Alex said: “I was attracted to the Thames & Newcastle apprenticeship as it offered the chance to work within a close-knit family business, make an impact, and receive insights from experienced surveyors. As the business has employed other apprentices, I was also confident in its commitment to investing in young people and guiding them through their careers.

“In the long term, and with the team’s support, I’m looking forward to becoming a fully qualified chartered surveyor, taking on more responsibility and managing complex projects with confidence.”

After spending several months in the roofing industry, Johnny Lucas joined the Thames & Newcastle team as a labourer. His willingness to progress and work ethic was recognised by site management and he is now beginning a Level 2 carpentry apprenticeship at Chelmsford College.

Johnny commented: “My goal is to build diverse skills, so that I can become fully qualified in multiple trades. This apprenticeship is a key step towards achieving that. I’m looking forward to learning from an experienced team and qualifying as a carpenter.”

Stanley Leask, Commercial Director at Thames & Newcastle, added: “Both appointments form part of our aim to develop talent within our business and equip the next generation with specialist skills in construction. We look forward to helping Alex and Johnny take their next step in their careers and watching them progress.”

Alex and Johnny join fellow apprentices Daniel Pile and Tommy Young at Thames & Newcastle. Daniel is working towards a Level 4 HNC in quantity surveying and commercial management, and Tommy is pursuing a Level 2 qualification in carpentry and joinery at New City College.
