THAMES & NEWCASTLE WINS £2.8M HOME EXTENSION AND REFURBISHMENT CONTRACT

Thames & Newcastle has been appointed for a high-end residential extension and refurbishment in Wimbledon village.

Designed by Dyer Grimes Architecture, which recommended Thames & Newcastle for the work, the £2.8m project will upgrade a seven-bedroom family home located in a conservation area.

Thames & Newcastle will be responsible for constructing a 970 sq ft ground-floor extension at the rear, remodelling the property internally and delivering a full refurbishment.

As part of the contract, windows will be refurbished and replaced in addition to the extension of dormers at the side of the property and on the roof. New conservation rooflights will also be installed and the original timber entrance door retained and refurbished.

Internally, the refurbishment will deliver a new kitchen, utility area and bathrooms combined with modern plumbing, heating and electrical systems as well as new plastering and decoration throughout.

A single-storey extension on the garage adds to the project, which will feature traditional timber doors to match the main family home.

Dan Ford, Construction Director at Thames & Newcastle, said: “This contract builds on our extensive residential experience which has seen us extend and enhance a vast range of homes.

“We will be working closely with the architects and the homeowner to deliver the design brief, creating enhancements that match the property’s original architecture and are sympathetic to the Merton conservation area’s character.”

Thames & Newcastle is scheduled to be on site for 56 weeks with handover expected in spring 2025.

The contract is one of several residential projects currently being delivered by Thames & Newcastle across London. The contractor is on site refurbishing Kelmscott House, the former home of celebrated Victorian designer William Morris, is upgrading and extending a Georgian property near Hampstead Heath, and delivering an internal refurbishment at a house in Richmond, which will be complemented by the construction of an external pool house.
